“What happens now is that mum will file an affidavit and an application seeking orders in relation to her children; that they live with her and have some time or no time with the perpetrator, because we're talking about family violence. The husband-father will file an affidavit denying each and every allegation of family violence because that's the practice; you deny the allegations of family violence. If mum says, 'He hit me with a red cup,' and dad says, 'It was a white cup,' then, in the affidavit, you just say, 'I deny the contents of paragraph 3.' That's what you do. As a practitioner in this sector, if you don't do that, you're not doing your job.”
